Kuwait breaks from GCC on warming up to Israel January 7, 2019 p While Kuwait is joining its fellow GCC nations in terms of supporting Syria's return to the Arab League, Kuwaiti officials want nothing to do with Israel. Despite mostly opposing the regime of Bashar al-Assad during the Syrian Arab Spring, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states have essentially come around to recognizing that it is most pragmatic to have ties with Damascus. The recent rapprochements of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with Assad’s regime underscore this trend, as do expectations that Kuwait will soon follow Manama and Abu Dhabi’s lead. Oman has maintained official ties with Damascus on all points since 2011. This reacceptance of Syria plays out against the backdrop where GCC states have been moving toward increasingly normalized relations with Syria’s neighbor, Israel. Although ...

The council did not identify the man, giving only his initials I. A. Sources, however, identified the convict as Issam Aqel, a resident of Jerusalem, who holds U.S. citizenship. Last month, the official Wafa news agency said the Palestinian Authority and intelligence service were facing pressure to release a man accused of “leaking real estate to settlers in Jerusalem”. On Nov. 28, U.S. ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, called for Aqel’s release, saying he was an American citizen. The Palestinian leadership suspended contact with the U.S....

2019 presidency: Why I’m sad – Peter Obi Said Published on December 21, 2018 The Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Peter Obi has revealed what makes him sad about Nigeria. Obi said that the recent report of over 87 million Nigerians being out of job was a sad one. He called on the Federal Government to take drastic measures to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Obi said this while speaking with newsmen on Thursday in Abuja. He noted that the rate of unemployment in the country would reduce if certain areas were given adequate support. According to him, if the right approach is not taken, we can have 15 million rice farmers and rice will still be expensive in the country. “The more people that get into rice production, the more rice we produce and the more the price of rice goes up. “It shows that there is disconnect. If we have 10...

Netanyahu’s Son Says All Muslims Should ‘Leave The Land Of Israel’ December 14, 2018 Getty Images Gowidenews — Yair Netanyahu said there would not be peace in the land of Israel until either all the Jews or all the Muslims leave — and he would prefer the latter. The son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted the comment on Facebook on Thursday: “There will not be peace here until: All the Jews leave the land of Israel. All the Muslims leave the land of Israel. “I prefer the second option,” he posted. The post has garnered 750 reactions as of Friday evening in Israel, most of them in agreement. It’s the second time in a week that the younger Netanyahu has posted a controversial comment online. On Monday , he posted on Facebook that the press, as well as left-wing NGOs and politicians, are “traitors.” His father disavowed the comment. Last year, Yair Netanyahu posted and then deleted an apparently anti-Semitic caricature of liberal Jew...
