AYU calls for halting war, lifting siege on Yemen

The General Secretariat of the Arab Youth Union (AYU) called on Saturday for ending the war in Yemen and lifting the siege imposed on it.

AYU's Secretariat confirmed in a statement at the conclusion of its meeting in Algeria, the need to communicate with all international organizations and United Nations humanitarian agencies to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and to help to avert an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.

The statement pointed to the suffering of the Yemenis due to military operations and air strikes targeting civilians, infrastructure and public services, in addition to the unjust siege and the closure of land, sea and air ports.

It called for returning to dialogue and moving towards a political settlement and national reconciliation to ensure Yemen's independence, security, sovereignty and unity.

The AUY General Secretariat's meetings were held in Algeria with Yemeni participation represented by members of the General Union of Yemen Youth Ibrahim Al-Warith, Abdullah Al-Sharif and Nasser Al-Nusairi.
