Report reaching us says

Montana's Republican Sen. Steve Daines could miss a Senate confirmation vote this weekend for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh — his daughter is getting married Saturday.

And, according to Fox News, Daines will walk his daughter down the aisle no matter what.

Though Daines is expected to support Kavanaugh's confirmation, his absence could gum up the works for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as he aims to push through nomination to the high court, Fox News reported.

Republicans currently hold a 51-49 majority in the Senate and can only afford one defection if Democrats unanimously vote against Kavanaugh. Three GOP Republicans — Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine  — were undecided as of Thursday.

Daines' absence also would push Vice President Mike Pence out of the mix, since 99 senators would be voting and Pence can only settle things in the event of a tie, Fox News noted.

The other configuration for a Kavanaugh confirmation would be if two of the three GOP Senators and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., vote to approve him.

But Manchin also has not announced how he intends to vote.

Daines will stick around Friday morning when the Senate takes a vote to end debate on Kavanaugh's nomination, Fox News reported.
