On October 28, pro-Kremlin militants shelled Ukrainian military positions 19 times. One fighter of the government troops was wounded in action. The HQ of the Joint Forces Operation reported this on Monday morning.

The enemy attacked outposts near Krymske, Avdiivka, Pisky, Mariinka, Slavne, Taramchuk, Berezove, Pavlopol, Hnutove, Lebedynske, Vodyane and Shyrokyne. Mortar fire was observed near Krymske, Luhanske and Hnutove.

The enemy concentrated fire in Azov and Donetsk sectors.

Ukrainian defenders returned fire in close contact situations; three enemy fighters were killed and six more were wounded in action.

Earlier the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker expressed support for the initiative of the European Parliament about the appointment of a special representative of the European Union for Donbas and Crimea. He claimed this in the interview to Interfax-Ukraine agency.

‘I think that this is a wonderful idea. I met with the members of the European Parliament about two weeks ago. I urged them to be focused on Donbas and Crimea,’ Volker claimed.

He expressed his readiness to work together in the case of the appointment of the EU special representative.
